So primarily I blog client-based photos on here, but while I’m taking a break from working, I thought I would throw occasional life updates on here. I’m sure I’ll eventually work once in a while once I get completely settled in, but taking a break has been quite relaxing.

This past month spent at my new school in California has been refreshing to say the least. If you don’t know me, I transferred as a sophomore from Belmont in Nashville, TN where I grew up. Being far away from everything familiar either hasn’t hit me or just doesn’t really phase me in general; nerves never crept up on me in the way I was expecting and the transition was surprisingly easy.  I can’t necessarily put into words why I have enjoyed it so much, but I think the aspect of new faces, places, and adventures has surely helped. Going to the beach each week, taking enjoyable classes, and meeting new people are a few of my favorite things and I have had my fair share of all three this past month.

I have learned to see life as a new opportunity on a daily basis more so than I have before. I’m learning to surf in a couple weeks and I joined a yoga studio. I’m really just trying to soak everything up while I’m here. I can’t wait for my friends from home to make fun of me after they read this. They’re waiting patiently for me to turn into a full-on California girl and I think they expect me to come home completely different. I’m definitely still me, just trying to expand my horizons a bit.

In other news, here are some photos from my first few weeks here! I’ve been lazy and the majority were taken on my phone, but hey, it works.

On an end note… a couple of my new favorite quotes that I have to share:

If you’re brave enough to leave behind everything familiar and comforting, which can be anything from your house to bitter, old resentments, and set out on a truth-seeking journey, either externally or internally, and if you are truly willing to regard everything that happens to you on that journey as a clue and if you accept everyone you meet along the way as a teacher and if you are prepared, most of all, to face and forgive some very difficult realities about yourself, then the truth will not be withheld from you.

-Eat, Pray, Love

We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm, and adventure. There is no end to the adventures that we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.
