What do we wear?!
Picking outfits can be tricky.
Which is why I'm here to help you out a bit.
For engagement photos, outfits play a huge role in the overall tone of the photo. Certain colors complement backgrounds, while some are totally distracting. My top few tips on choosing what the heck to wear are below...
1. Pick colors wisely.
Colors I love tend to be on the neutral side. That's not to say you can't wear red - but choosing a red that is a bit more muted will really compliment the natural tones of the environment. Colors such as black, mustard yellow, blush, beige, forest green, and more all fall under this category. I also advise against getting too matchy-matchy... these aren't your family beach photos from when you were 5-years-old. ;) That being said, you'll want to make sure your outfits complement one another enough.
2. Keep it simple.
This is easier said than done. I'm a huge fan of simple jeans/shorts, tees, boots/sandals, and cardigans (if it's chilly!) for at least one look during your photo session. The second look can be a step up from this. Think long, flowing dresses, maybe a collared shirt, etc. Avoid huge accessories such as super bold jewelry along with patterns such as stripes (these tend to look funky in photos) or anything that feels too loud.
